Manifesto of this Heart

by Merrick Soleil

When I tell you I love you, I mean it

Etched in the granite of my heart

Unbreakable under any duress

There will always be a smoldered ember

Pray it not smoke out this life

When you are snuffed from existence

Love persists in your wake

No other will replace what I hold for you

As it will not displace those before and after you

Not a slice of cake moldered on the sill

Time has no constraint upon love

Rather, another construct evaded

Excessive even in it’s eternity

Regardless of the turmoil churned betwixt

Ask me not to define what it is or is not

You only need to know it is real and true

Whether we see, or speak, or touch again

Know that

Know the infinite

Know that when I tell you I love you, I mean it

Merrick Soleil

Merrick Soleil could be described as an autistic, gendervoid mer-alien traveling across time and space to observe, engage, and experience human life in this weird meat suit. Their art and body have been chronically sick. The construct of time is primarily occupied by: the arts, social justice, and spiritually-based intuitive woo woo things. Predominantly a performance artist/poet, Merrick’s published work can be found in: That Gray Zine … about mental Health (Issue 4), Therapy Zine (Vol. 3 and 4), GUTS Goat Farm Poetry Society (Fall 2019). They are currently residing inter-dimensionally from Lenape lands. Discover more on their website.

Image description: A colorful, stylized photo of Merrick’s face from a profile angle. Their dark hair is cropped short with some loose curls on top, and they have piercings in their ear lobes, tragus, nostrils, and septum. A snake tattoo is visible on their neck. The colors of the image are primarily red, blue, and yellow with green highlights. An irregular blue and green stripe effect of the colors across the photos is accented with yellow highlights on their cheekbone and bridge of nose.
